Joanna Czechowska

I was born and brought up in Derby, the fourth daughter of Jerzy Czechowski and Christine O’Neill. My beloved Babcia looked after me as a child and we spent many weekends at the Polish Club my dad helped establish.

I went to St Mary’s Primary and Parkfields Cedars Grammar School and finally off to University College London to study history.

I’ve worked as a journalist in women’s magazines for many years and started writing short stories about 10 years ago.

The Black Madonna of Derby was first published in Poland in Polish in 2006 under the title Goodbye Polsko.

I am a member of the Society of Authors and Bellaonline’s British Television Editor at http://britishtelevision.bellaonline.com/Site.asp
